About Elders

Because we care for you and your family, the pastors and elders of our church are committed to providing an effective "shepherding ministry" to all our members.   We want to make certain that every member and family in our church experience the love and support of the whole congregation.   We want to become known throughout our community as a loving and caring church.

Our Elders are an extension of the church staff in ministering to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of each church member and family.   The resident church families are divided into groups of 10 or more families.   Each group of families is then assigned to an elder who will minister to them over a period of time.

A part of each elder's monthly meeting is spent praying about specific needs of families and in rejoicing over needs met and victories won.   Another part of the meeting may be used in developing elders skills in ministering more effectively to family needs.

Here are some specific ways your elder is available to help:

Visitation - Elders schedule a "get acquainted visit" with members.   In addition, they visit throughout the year when someone is in the hospital of people have sorrow, sickness, crisis or other special needs in their life.

Witnessing to Unchurched Family Members - An elder's chief concern is that every member of your family know Jesus as Savior, and our church as His living body.   He will want to assist all in your family as much as possible in knowing and loving the Lord and being active in His church.

Rejoicing with You and Your Family - Elders desire to share your joy when you and your family celebrate important events or accomplishments in your life.

Being Your Friend - Elders come to listen to your troubles and concerns and are there for you when you need support and guidance.

Answering Questions About Your Faith - Our Church - Our Denomination - Elders bring (or help you find) the understanding desired for spiritual matters or for issues, concerns or questions about things going on in your congregation or church body.

Helping You Grow in Fellowship with Other Members - Elders want to encourage you to participate in social occasions when families in your assigned group or other church members get together for fun and fellowship.

Help You Serve In and Through the Church - Your elder will watch for opportunities to use the talents, skills, and abilities God gave you.

Praying For You and With You - Believing that you are important and believing in the power of prayer, your elder will join with the pastor and other elders in praying for you and each member of your family.
